Q&A with Shannon

Why did you become a Physical Therapist?

I developed an interest in becoming a PT after having an injury and receiving excellent care from a dedicated therapist. It was a perfect fit for me because I could combine my passion for science and human anatomy with my interest in education and helping others.

What can patients expect when they see you in the clinic?

My evidence-based treatments are tailored to each of my patients’ unique needs. My patients can expect to be listened to. Even if a patient has had a negative experience elsewhere in the past, they can expect to have a fresh start here with me at Saunders. My patients will always find a friendly, intelligent, and caring therapist when they walk through my door.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do for fun?

I love spending time with my husband and our two children. I also love to travel. When I’m not working or at my children’s sporting events, I’m likely planning for our next adventure!

What are your favorite ways of staying healthy?

I belong to a local health club where I weight train and participate in group classes. I also enjoy cooking healthy homemade meals. I try to practice mindfulness and yoga consistently too.

Where is your hometown?

I am from Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a kid, I was convinced I was going to be a professional dancer.

What is your favorite thing about living in Minnesota?

I love spending time in the North Shore and hiking by Lake Superior. I could do without the never ending winters though!
