Katie Harris, PT, DPT, RYT 200, RPYT, CES is a physical therapist specializing in pelvic health rehabilitation with a background in outpatient orthopedics. Her clinical interests include prenatal and postpartum care, pelvic pain, return-to-sport rehabilitation, hypermobility spectrum disorders, and working with dancers and performing artists.

Katie earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in 2022. As both a competitive Irish dancer and yoga teacher, she brings a movement-centered, whole-person approach to care. She combines evidence-based rehabilitation, patient education, and thoughtful clinical reasoning to help patients feel stronger, more supported, and more confident in their bodies.

Katie is especially passionate about working with individuals who have felt misunderstood or dismissed in healthcare spaces and may benefit from nuanced, individualized care. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys ceramics, taking care of her house plants, hiking outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.

Q&A with Katie

Why did you become a physical therapist?

I became interested in physical therapy at a young age after growing up as a dancer and experiencing many foot and ankle injuries. Being exposed to physical therapy early on showed me how fascinating it is to understand the human body, identify movement patterns, and problem solve in a way that helps people get back to what they love.

I knew I wanted to become a physical therapist in middle school, and that goal stayed with me as my own relationship with movement evolved. As a clinician, I love combining science, education, and human connection to help patients feel stronger, more confident, and more supported in their bodies.

What can patients expect when they see you in the clinic?

Patients can expect a thoughtful, collaborative, and whole-person approach to care. I take time to listen to each patient’s story, understand their goals, and look at how the whole body may be contributing to their symptoms.

My goal is to create a space where patients feel heard, supported, and comfortable asking questions. Treatment often includes education, hands-on care, movement analysis, and individualized exercises to help patients build strength, confidence, and long-term resilience.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do for fun?

When I’m not working, I’m usually dancing, teaching or practicing yoga, spending time outdoors, or finding a new creative project to dive into. I’m a competitive Irish dancer, so a lot of my free time is spent in the studio with my dance community. I also love exploring national parks, good coffee, live music, and spending time with friends and family.

What are your favorite ways of staying healthy?

My favorite ways to stay healthy are through movement, rest, and connection. I love dance, yoga, strength training, and getting outside when I can. I also try to prioritize good sleep, nourishing food, time with loved ones, and practices that help me feel grounded, like breathwork or slowing down with a cup of coffee on my balcony.

Where is your hometown?

Milwaukee, WI

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was younger because I’ve always loved animals. Once I learned more about the sadder parts of the job, I realized it might be a little too hard on my heart. I still love animals deeply, but I eventually found my way to physical therapy, where I could combine my love of helping others with my fascination for movement and the human body.

What is your favorite thing about living in Minnesota?

My favorite thing about living in Minnesota is the balance of city life and access to nature. I love that there are lakes, trails, parks, and green spaces woven throughout the Twin Cities. I also really appreciate the strong sense of community here, whether that’s through dance, yoga, local events, or simply enjoying all four seasons with the people I love.
