We truly appreciate it!
Saunders Therapy Centers, PA is an independent physical therapy practice founded in 1988. We offer traditional sports and orthopedic injury rehab, but also specialize in men’s and women’s health, back and neck pain, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, myofascial release and other alternative therapies. We are one of the most well-known centers for Industrial Rehabilitation, Work Hardening and Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) in the Twin Cities.
Saunders employs 14 physical and occupational therapists, four physical therapy and occupational therapy assistants, and a wonderful administrative staff at three Twin Cities/Minneapolis/St. Paul locations: Edina, St. Paul, and Maple Grove. We are certified by the WBENC as a Woman Owned Business.
Because we are an independent private practice, we have no financial ties to any hospital, physician, or insurance group. Therefore, our success depends on providing outstanding clinical care and customer service, and we have enjoyed a great reputation with solid growth since we first opened our doors.
Because our physical therapist clinicians have advanced training and experience, we are considered one of the premier Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul) independent practices for musculoskeletal injury prevention and treatment.
Most of our physical therapists have been with Saunders for more than 10 years. We are proud of our individualized, one-on-one approach to physical therapy treatment. You will see the same physical therapist at each visit and will receive hands on care by a skilled professional.
Saunders physical therapists treat all disorders of the musculoskeletal system: bones, joints, muscles, nervous and connective tissues. Examples of the most common problems we see include:
We are especially experienced in the complexity of the spine and provide effective, case-specific treatment for acute and chronic back and neck problems. We are well-known for our success with chronic, difficult-to-treat disorders that have failed surgery or conservative care at other clinics. Our physical therapy approach to treating neck and back disorders is advanced and unique.
We treat all sports injuries, whether you're a weekend runner or a high school athlete. Our physical therapy evaluation and treatment are individualized to help an individual recover and return to their sports/activity as quickly and safely as possible. In a Saunders Therapy Centers' treatment plan, we include function-specific training and knowledge to prevent further injuries.
Many women struggle with a leaky bladder, bloating, painful intercourse, or other pain in the pelvis and don’t realize that physical therapy treatment is an option. Pelvic floor musculoskeletal disorders are common in women and too often go unrecognized during the evaluation of pelvic pain syndromes. Proper evaluation can often detect spasm, trigger points, muscle imbalances, and other factors that a physical therapist specially trained in women's health can treat. After physical therapy, most women report a major improvement in quality of life. Very few physical therapy clinics specialize in these difficult conditions, and we are proud of our expertise.
Temporomandibular joint disorders and facial pain can affect both men and women of all ages. We effectively treat and manage a variety of conditions related to the temporomandibular joint, using physical therapy with a team approach including your dentist or physician and a comprehensive evaluation.
In addition to a thorough evaluation of your TMJ and related structures, we will evaluate your posture and its relation to TMJ dysfunction, muscle imbalances of the jaw and neck, and biomechanical evaluation of the temporomandibular joint, cervical spine and craniofacial region.
The key to successful physical therapy management of headaches is identifying the type of headache you have. There are several types of headaches for which symptoms can be very similar and each type of headache responds best to a particular treatment. To further complicate the problem, it is not uncommon to suffer from more than one type of headache. Our physical therapists are skilled at distinguishing between the various causes and contributing factors of headaches and can effectively treat and help you self-manage your symptoms.
Have you experienced one or more falls within the past year? Do you experience dizziness or feel like you or the room is spinning? Do you feel dizziness or vertigo with rolling over in bed, sitting up or looking to either side? Do you experience motion sickness? Are you suffering from difficulty concentrating, headaches or nausea after sustaining a concussion?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then a vestibular physical therapist at Saunders Therapy Centers may be able to help you. We treat a variety of vestibular conditions that can contribute to symptoms of dizziness, vertigo, or falls, and are skilled at differentiating between the various causes of your symptoms for the most appropriate treatment.
We view the treatment of the myofascial, craniosacral, and visceral systems as a whole body approach.
The physical therapist looks for the cause rather than just treating the symptoms. The goal is to restore the body’s equilibrium in each of the systems, resulting in optimal function of the body. Your therapist will encourage you to become aware of the sensations occurring in your body before, during, and after treatment; identifying areas of redness, tenderness, tightness and/or tingling. You will be encouraged to allow your body to unwind or naturally move as the fascial tissues are released.
Depending upon the results of your evaluation, your therapist will choose the most appropriate technique, which may include Myofascial release (MFR), Craniosacral therapy (CST), Visceral manipulation or others.
Have you had prostate surgery or find incontinence or pelvic pain affecting your personal relationships and ability to work effectively? Many people don’t realize that physical therapy treatment is an option. Pelvic floor musculoskeletal disorders are common in men and too often go unrecognized during the evaluation of pelvic pain syndromes. Proper evaluation facilitates the diagnosis of spasm or trigger points, and physical therapy often achieves a major improvement in quality of life. At Saunders Therapy Centers, we have specially trained men’s health physical therapists who can help.
