Q&A with Michaela

Why did you become a COTA?

While working as a PCA, I saw the impact occupational therapy had on my clients and how it grew their independence throughout daily living. I was in a transitional time in my career, so I decided to go back to school to become a certified occupational therapy assistant.

What can patients expect when they see you in the clinic?

I pretty much always have a smile on my face and I am never afraid of learning something new.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do for fun?

I have 3 cats and 1 dog at home, so I enjoy hanging out with them and taking my dog on walks or hikes. I play in a few softball leagues, am learning how to golf and instruct group fitness classes.

What are your favorite ways of staying healthy?

Staying active through things I enjoy like pickleball, olympic style weightlifting, softball, walking my dog and hiking!

Where is your hometown?

New Hope, MN

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A veterinarian because I love animals.

What is your favorite thing about living in Minnesota?

The beautiful lakes, good restaurants and scenery!
